waste management 2017

According to La Marque Mayor Bobby Hocking, better customer service and more reliable pickup were driving factors for the switch but the new contract also offers expanded recycling services to the citizens and businesses of La Marque.

LA MARQUE, TEXAS (August 22, 2017) – Beginning October 2, 2017, citizens and businesses of La Marque will have new solid waste, recycling and bulk collection by Waste Management. Every home will receive a new 96-gallon green cart with a green lid for items considered trash and a new 96-gallon green cart with yellow lid for items considered recycling. Waste collection will be twice-a-week and recycling collection will be once every-other-week. Bulk collection will be once-a-week with a limit of five-cubic yards at the curb at no additional cost to the residents. Anything exceeding five-cubic yards can be scheduled for pickup at an additional charge.

Billing will still be managed by City of La Marque but customer service will he handled directly by Waste Management. According to Tina Ortiz, Utility Billing/Sanitation Manager, the set up will provide a higher level of service for the citizens and businesses of La Marque.

“I believe our citizens will be pleased with the change,” said Ortiz. “We are expecting a smooth transition and are excited to offer new and improved services.”

In late September, citizens will be asked to set out the old blue trash and recycling carts. The old carts will be picked up as the new carts are delivered. Please review the New Service Brochure attached to your new trash cart at the time of delivery. Official trash pickup from Waste Management begins on October 2, 2017. As the transition progresses, information will be provided with your water bill, on the city website and on social media.
