[ARCHIVED] Harvey Update: no mandatory evacuation, levee gates will remain closed, no trash pickup Tuesday

There is NO mandatory evacuation. The hurricane evacuation levee gates will remain closed. No trash pickup on Tuesday, August 29.

La Marque Office of Emergency Management would like to dispel several rumors circulating on social media. There is NO mandatory evacuation. The levee and its gates keep storm surge from the Gulf of Mexico out of our community. Opening these gates would not benefit our neighboring communities and would not alleviate flooding. The gates will remain shut.

No trash pickup on Tuesday, August 29. The next trash day is expected Thursday is but not guaranteed. Follow City of La Marque for updates. Please be patient. Many roads are still impassable.

America's Best Value in La Marque has been approved as a FEMA voucher location.

There is NO interruption to City of La Marque's water service.

Mayor Hocking issued an order of curfew from dusk to dawn until further notice.

Harvey's heavy rainfall isn't over yet. Stay vigilant and stay aware.

Driving through flood waters creates a wake that could push the flooding into someone's home. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS. STAY SAFE, STAY PUT.
