Recovery Service Center has been established at Mall of the Mainland, 10000 Emmett F. Lowry Expry, Texas City, Texas 77591at the entrance between World Gym and Stuttgarden sign.
With the kind generosity of Mr. Jerome Karam, a principal owner of Mall of the Mainland, a site for a Recovery Service Center for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey will begin operations today, Thursday, September 7. Hours of service are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This Recovery Service Center is a collaboration by many organizations. The center is sponsored by Galveston County Restore and Rebuild, a recovery VOAD organized after Hurricane Ike(voluntary organizations active in disaster) and the Galveston County Recovery Fund facilitated by both of the Galveston County United Ways, Gulf Coast Interfaith, The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and partner Chambers of Commerce.
The Recovery Service Center is a true community collaboration. The Recovery Center was set up with the invaluable assistance of volunteers from the American Red Cross, the Queen of Peace Catholic Church Youth Group of La Marque, The Salvation Army, and members of the New York Fire Department.
The Salvation Army will begin case management today and distribute $50 gift cards to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey flood water. The American Red Cross and other private organizations including Marathon Oil are providing a variety of products including cleaning kits, water, and food products. Other groups including the Boy Scouts of America are sending an 18 wheel truck of donated items.
Donations of canned food products, cereals, paper products and new and gently used items will be accepted from the public.
