A broken Gulf Coast Water Authority water main in Santa Fe, Texas, expected to impact La Marque beginning Saturday, January 27 after noon.

A broken Gulf Coast Water Authority water main in Santa Fe, Texas, required the City of La Marque to halt intake to our 1764 water treatment plant and switch to well water. Impacted areas are west of Interstate 45. Residents may notice a change in the characteristics of water, specifically discoloration. There is no impact to water quality and no changes to water pressure are expected. This is not a boil water notice.  Water is safe to drink. The discoloration comes from switching to well water. Changes are expected to begin this afternoon, Saturday January 27, 2018. According to Gulf Coast Water Authority, Monday, January 29, 2018, is the earliest timeline for repairs. City of La Marque officials will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
