Gulf Coast Water Authority's water disinfection process has been changed from using chloramine, a mix of chlorine and ammonia, to just chlorine. The annual process clears lines and avoids the building of bacteria during warm summer season. Some taste and odor changes may occur, but there are no health risks. This is a temporary change improves the quality of water being served to Gulf Coast Water Authority customers including all customers in the City of La Marque. This maintenance process is expected to end within 30 days. City crews will be flushing fire hydrants. For information call La Marque Public Services at 409-938-9280.
