Texas City Independent School District recently hired Mike Matranga, a 1995 graduate of La Marque High School and former United States Secret Service agent, as Director of Security and School Safety in a proactive approach to enhancing security for all TCISD students and staff. During his time in the Secret Service, Matranga was selected to serve as team leader of the US Secret Service Counter Assault, an elite team trained to protect the President of the United States of America. Hear him speak at the August La Marque Crime Stoppers Meeting and find out what security measures are being implemented at local schools.
La Marque Crime Stoppers is a community program designed to get citizens involved in getting crimes solved. It does this by asking you, the concerned citizen, to supply information that may assist in solving these crimes and offering cash rewards of up to $5,000 for information.
Monthly luncheons are held the second Wednesday of each month at First United Methodist Church of La Marque at 1825 Howell. Lunch is $7 and is held from 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. On August 8, lunch will be spaghetti, garlic bread and salad.
