In preparation for Gulf Coast Water Authority water main repair, City of La Marque will switch to well water reserves this evening, November 13. Repairs expected to take five days.
The Gulf Coast Water Authority has determined a repair plan for the leaking 42-inch water line that serves Galveston, Tiki Island, Bayou Vista, Hitchcock and Santa Fe, as well as portions of La Marque, Dickinson and League City. Crews will begin repairs Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
During the repair, City of La Marque will utilize well water reserves. The switch to well water will begin the evening of Tuesday, November 13, 2018. La Marque will continue to utilize well water until the Gulf Coast Water Authority repair is complete, which is expected to be five days. Water conservation is encouraged during this time.
The switch to well water could result in change of water taste and color. All City of La Marque water, including well water, is tested and held to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TECQ) standards.
Details and construction updates are forthcoming and will be shared as soon as they become available.
