Coast Water Authority’s 42-inch water line was back in service shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday after water quality tests were completed. Normal operations have resumed to provide water from the GCWA water treatment plant in Texas City to Galveston Island and other affected Galveston County communities
While the line was taken out of service for repairs, GCWA used alternate water lines to supply Galveston Island. The communities of Tiki Island, Bayou Vista, Hitchcock and Santa Fe, as well as portions of La Marque and Dickinson, used their backup groundwater wells.
