The City of La Marque Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this storm and will continue to provide updates as they become available. Please monitor the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston and local news outlets.

For emergencies, dial 911. To report weather-related emergencies, call La Marque Public Works at 409-938-9280. For after-hours weather emergencies, call La Marque Police Dispatch at 409-938-9269.

The NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center has classified the disturbance off the southeast Texas Coast as Tropical Storm Imelda. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued along the coast between Sargent and Port Bolivar. Regardless of its classification, the main threat with this slow-moving system from this afternoon through Thursday evening will be heavy rain and flash flooding. The flood threat will be higher in urban, low-lying, and poor drainage areas. We currently expect the highest rainfall totals to stretch from Matagorda County northeastward to Liberty County. Travel will likely be hazardous, and street flooding is anticipated. Remember to never attempt to drive across a flooded roadway or around a barricade.
