Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission plans Texas Waterway Cleanup, calls for local kayakers and volunteers to help clean the banks of the lake at Mac McGaffey Highland Bayou Park.
Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is hosting a Texas Waterway Cleanup Event from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Mac McGaffey Highland Bayou Park in La Marque. The City of La Marque is providing lunch.
Volunteers needed to help clean the banks of the lake at Mac McGaffey Highland Bayou Park. Some debris is only accessible by small watercraft, so Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is seeking kayakers to help.
Alanah Brown, KLMB Commissioner, said Keep La Marque Beautiful decided to do a waterway cleanup because so much of La Marque’s tourism centers around our bayous and waterways.
“We have two cleanup events in La Marque every year, but we wanted to do more,” Brown said. “We have beautiful waterways, bayous and grasslands in our city, and the Commission is dedicated to keeping them clean.”
More than 500 people are expected to visit Highland Bayou Park for the Kids Fish event in March.
“KLMBC added this waterway cleanup two weeks in advance of La Marque Kids Fish for a reason,” Brown said. “We’re doing our part. The park will be gleaming and beautiful for all to enjoy that day.”
