La Marque Fire Department has partnered with University Houston to perform a prescribed burn between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020, on 100 acres of prairie grassland located at 5721 Highway 2004, La Marque, Texas.

Prescribed burns are also training opportunities for fire personnel.
Assisting the La Marque Fire Department will be crews from Bayou Vista Fire, Fresno Fire and Galveston Fire. Coastal Prairie Research Center officials will be in attendance, as well.
