[ARCHIVED] No one should go hungry, and the City of La Marque is here to help.

Please don’t be hungry, La Marque. City officials are partnering with local organizations to increase the availability of food resources and Texas City ISD is still providing breakfast and lunch for all TCISD students.

If you are hungry or know someone who is, please take advantage of these resources. Check on your friends and neighbors. COVID-19 has created gaps for some of the most vulnerable in our community. No one should go hungry, and the City of La Marque is here to help.

LMPD meals for seniors

La Marque Police Department partnered with the Talk of La Marque Facebook Group and Fam Gals Community Food Pantry to offer a limited number of non-perishable meals to citizens of La Marque 60 years of age or older. If you are a senior citizen in need of food or know someone who is, call 409-938-9291 or email food@cityoflamarque.org. LMPD will deliver food to those unable to pick it up.

Extra distribution days at First United Methodist Church of La Marque

Councilwoman Casey McAuliffe and La Marque City Manager Tink Jackson joined forces with First United Methodist Church of La Marque and Galveston County Food Bank to increase food distribution from every-other-week to once-a-week at 1825 Howell Avenue. The food pantry First United Methodist will be from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, May 20 and May 29 this month. The touchless drive-through distribution requires a quick five-question questionnaire and is open to everyone. For information, contact the church at 409-229-8143.

TCISD meals for students

Texas City ISD Nutrition Services provides meals to TCISD students through a curbside pickup each Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at La Marque High School and Texas City High School. Each child in the car up to 18 years old will receive five breakfasts and five lunches. For information, visit tcisd.org

If your organization is offering other food resources, please forward the information to Colleen Martin, La Marque Public Information Officer, via email at cmartin@cityoflamarque.org or call 409-938-9255.
