June 1 marks the beginning of Hurricane Season. Houston/Galveston National Weather Service prepared the HURRICANE & SEVERE WEATHER GUIDE to help Gulf Coast citizens with resources and tips to get us all ready for potential storms.
The NOAA hurricane forecast is for an above-average hurricane season with 13 to 19 named storms. No matter what the forecast, it is important to prepare every year.
La Marque citizens and businesses are in Hurricane Evacuation Zone A. Now is the time to make a plan for your family and your pets, prepare a disaster supply kit and register for weather alerts. This year, make sure to include supplies to help protect you and loved ones from COVID-19. Folks with medical, functional or access needs should line up a “hurricane helper”.
The guide covers how to prepare and be safe when facing weather hazards. There are numerous checklists on what to do before, during and after the storm, including insurance tips and evacuation routes. The guide contains numerous resources and links where you can find information. Download the Guide here: http://cityoflamarque.org/DocumentCenter/View/3276/Hurricane-Guide_ALL-PAGES
