Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the significant number of COVID-19 cases we have seen in recent days across Galveston County and here in La Marque, we will be closing all city parks this weekend. Closures will begin at sundown on Friday evening and remain in effect until sunrise Monday morning.
I really struggled with making this decision, however, the health, safety and welfare of our citizens during this pandemic leaves no other choice. Closures of beaches and other facilities in proximity to La Marque have also increased concerns about the potential for unsafe overcrowding in our parks this weekend.
