Yard signs and gift cards were delivered on Sunday, December 20, 2020, by Keep La Marque Beautiful Commissioners Alanah Brown and Tracie Steans.
Alanah Brown volunteers her time for the Christmas lights contest every year. On behalf of the City of La Marque, thank you to Alanah and to all our citizens and friends who participated.
"This year has been challenging for so many of us," said Brown. "The ability to host this contest and bring love, laughter and light to La Marque means so much to this Commission. We hope that we have helped get everyone in the Christmas spirit and given everyone a reason to smile."
In First Place this year, we have Audrey and Albert Salinas of 1104 West Camp Circle! The community loves seeing your light display and all of the fun blow-ups that are in the yard. It is a joy for the children who's just eyes light up! - Alanah Brown
In Second Place this year, we have Justin Porterfield and Milton Johnson of 2004 Oaklawn! Their submission spoke wonders of their dedication and commitment to bringing the holiday season to life every year, even hosting Friendsgiving events for their neighborhood (pre-covid, of course). You can tell they love La Marque and La Marque loves them back! - Alanah Brown
In Third Place, we have the lovely Cathy Flores Knapp and her husband, Gary, at 2310 Lazy Lane! Cathy and her yard are anything but ordinary. She and her husband build every one of the beautiful solid wood, handpainted displays, and they don't stop at Christmas either. Cathy loves to decorate for all holidays and is genuinely one of the most joyous and spirited people I have personally met. - Alanah Brown
This year, our Continuing Excellence spot goes to Todd Homrighaus of 1114 Cedar Drive. His beautiful home and light display give anyone headed downtown something gorgeous to see. The beautiful landscaping, along with the lovely and classy lights, makes La Marque shine. - Alanah Brown
"I have a blast running our annual Christmas lights contest and waiting until midnight each year to capture the votes," said Brown. "I love this tradition for this community, and I cannot wait to see what everyone cooks up for next year! Happy Holidays y'all!"
