UPDATE 4:30 PM May 21, 2021

The La Marque Emergency Management team is monitoring the disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. There is a chance the storm could become a tropical depression, but conditions are not favorable. There is no flash flood watch at this time.

Batches of brief heavy rain and gusty winds are expected Friday night and early Saturday morning. Due to recent rains and ground saturation, isolated street flooding is possible.

There are active high surf and small craft advisories. Minor coastal flooding is expected. Rip currents are also a danger.

Please keep an eye on the weather and monitor local news outlets for updates.

NOTICE

Please stay weather aware. Shower and thunderstorm activity remains disorganized, but rain is expected in our area Friday and Saturday. Due to rainfall earlier this week, the ground is saturated and street flooding is possible.
Please make sure trashcans are stored away from the road and ditches near your home are free from debris and branches.
Hurricane Season officially begins June 1 each year, but forecasters predicted an early start due to conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. It looks like those predictions were correct.
