Happy 4th of July from the City of La Marque. Please be considerate of neighbors, pets, vets and friends who have PTSD during this holiday season.

According to section 29.3 of the city ordinances of La Marque, the discharge of fireworks within the city limits of La Marque is prohibited.

A citation or ticket can be issued for a fine of up to $2,000. More importantly, fireworks burn at extremely high temperatures and can cause significant fire damage.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, fireworks started an estimated 19,500 fires in 2018, including 1,900 structure fires, 500 vehicle fires, and 17,100 outside and other fires. These fires caused five deaths, 46 civilian injuries, and $105 million in direct property damage and these are just the incidents reported.

Due to La Marque's subdivisions layout and the house proximity, these dangers are real. So celebrate this 4th of July safely.
