[ARCHIVED] TXDOT UPDATE

TXDOT DEMO

IH-45 demolition notification at FM 1764 overpass

This weekend we will be demolishing the old northbound section of the FM 1764 Overpass. The work will begin Friday night July 8, 2022, at 9:00 PM and will be completed by Monday morning July 11, 2022, at 5:00 AM. In order to complete this work, the FM 1764 intersection will be closed for the East Bound and West Bound traffic. This will then allow the contractor to start the final construction work for the new northbound main lanes of the new FM 1764 Overpass.

The detour for the total closure for the eastbound traffic of FM 1764 will be:

Turn right from FM 1764 onto the southbound frontage road of I-45, turn right towards Delaney Blvd., turn left at the signal light, cross over I-45 via the Delaney Rd/Century Blvd Bridge, turn left at Century Blvd onto Monticello Dr, continue onto the northbound frontage road of I-45 and follow it to FM 1764 East.

The detour for the total closure for the westbound traffic of FM 1764 will be:

Turn right from FM 1764 onto the northbound frontage road of I-45, turn right at the access to Hughes Rd, turn left at Hughes Rd, cross over I-45 via the Hughes Rd Bridge following the roadway to the right to the I-45 northbound frontage road, turn right onto the I-45 northbound frontage road and follow it to FM 1764 West.

During the weekend closure, crews will be demolishing the East side of the existing bridge over the eastbound and westbound lanes of FM 1764.

Off-duty police will be on-site to assist with the traffic control.

The $230 million I-45 expansion project between FM 517 to FM 1764 is expected to be completed in late 2024.
